We are a train departure app. Our job is to tell you when the 07:14 to London Bridge is inevitably delayed. We do not care about your browser history, we do not want to track your physical location in the background, and we certainly don't want to sell your commute patterns to advertisers.
Here is exactly what we collect, and why.
1. Data We Collect (If You Let Us)
- Saved Routes (Local): If you use the app anonymously, your "Home Station" and "My Commute" settings stay completely on your device. We never see them.
- Account Data (Optional): If you choose to use Cloud Sync to back up your routes, you authenticate via Google or Apple. We securely store your saved routes tied to an anonymized user ID so you can restore them on a new phone.
- Crash Reports: If the app crashes, we get an anonymous crash log. It tells us what line of code broke, not who you are.
2. Location Data
If you tap the "Find Nearest Station" button, we ask your phone for your GPS coordinates exactly once. We use that coordinate to query the National Rail database, return a station list, and then we throw the coordinate away. Platform 1 never tracks your location in the background.
3. Third-Party Services
We have to use a few infrastructure tools to make the app work:
- National Rail Enquiries (Darwin): To get the actual train times.
- RevenueCat: To manage Platform 1 Pro subscriptions securely. They handle the receipt validation so we don't have to build a payment database.
- Google AdMob (Free Tier Only): The basic version of the app shows non-intrusive banner ads to pay the server costs. Google uses standard mobile identifiers to serve these ads. If you upgrade to Pro, the AdMob SDK is completely disabled.
4. Your Rights
If you made a Cloud Sync account and want it gone, just tap "Delete Account" in the app settings. It wipes your saved data from our servers instantly and permanently. We have no interest in hoarding dead accounts.
